Closer to Reality, or ALMOST "Straight from the Horse's Mouth"
Print ViewHopefully you already know a few background facts:
- Dr. James Dobson heads up Focus on the Family
- ocus on the Family is B-I-G -- their daily radio show runs on over 1,000 radio stations in the U.S. alone, and their broadcasts reach 220 million worldwide listeners daily on over 7,000 stations in 160 countries. They produce "Adventures in Odyssey," "Plugged In" reviews, Brio and Breakaway magazines, the "Family News in Focus" radio show, and more.
- Dr. Dobson is nationally known, can create massive mail and phones responses to pending legistlation, and has become a de facto spokesman for the religious right in the eyes of believers, politicians, and the media.
So it was MAJOR news when he spoke against John McCain's candidacy, saying that if Senator McCain were the Republican candidate, he would choose to stay home and not vote for the first time in his life rather than vote for McCain. To me, it seemed Dobson was the first to "bash" Senator McCain, then others like Rush Limbaugh followed suit.
By now, Sen. McCain is well into mending fences with the most conservative elements in his party. BUT i haven't heard that Dr. Dobson changed his mind. WorldNetDaily has a good article on what he actually said about McCain's candidacy. Read the article for yourself, then STOP AND THINK, then offer your thoughts.
