What's the point?
Print ViewFIRST OF ALL - KUDOS to everyone who posted! The responses to the first blog evidenced both depth and reflection...yours were thoughtful postings. I was impressed; i enjoyed reading them and was pleasantly surprised when i saw who wrote some of the most insightful comments. PLUS there was a nice interaction between you all. You don't have to agree with each other, of course! I mean it was good, healthy dialogue. Your responses get me thinking about what i do and how i do it...
...which brings us to this week's blog. Nothing to read...it's just a simple question: what do you think is my goal in teaching history? (That include gov't and economics.) I don't mean what you think it ought to be (although you may state that if you wish, but that's a bit off the subject) -- but from your thoughts and observations of me, what actually IS my goal? It may be simpler FIRST to answer "WHY does Mr. D teach?"-- then answer "what is his goal in teaching history at ECA?" Remember this drawing? maybe it will help you answer..
Those in my US History class answer first. Bonus to the first two respondents. After Friday or at least 6 posts, the Government students can start answering.
LASTLY: This is the FIRST time i've done a blog like this and it's the LAST time this year we will do any kind of blog on teaching per se -- in the future it will be all current events, op-ed articles, history, etc.
