Rock On!

Remember the "Rock for Life" T-shirts? (Sure you do, Mollie!) Here's an interesting article on them. Give it a whirl and react -- not just from your gut, but think Constitutionally, legally, and critically.

I agree with every pro-life person in those articles... i really hate it how public school officials are singling out Christian messages... obviously since they're not fighting Thomas More Law Center, they know they're doing what's wrong. they just personally want to stop it. If they really want to define what or what is not offensive to wear on a shirt they should just make a uniform for their school...

yeah jimmy pretty much said it! i cant believe they yell at kids for wearing some thing like "pro -life" but other kids wearing so much more worse, volgure things dont even get talked to. im sure alot more people get offended by the shirts with bad things on then then "pro-life" anyway. and lawfuly a kid can wear just about anything on their t-shirt that they want. its freedim of speech.

as to the first ammendment rights, i totally agree. they are selectively applying it to those that agree with them. if you don't, well, you read what happens. i guess i'm at a loss at what to say only because we have already exhausted this topic in class, so what can i say that hasn't already been said? i dunno, except i clicked on a site linked to the article (the one about the swastika) and i think it would be really cool to do the rock for life thing on april 28th if we could get permission. (only problem is, that i dont have a tshirt or anything. haha) but i'm supposed to be thoughtful here, so to get really deep here. . . the part on the tshirt that says "you will not silence my message" well, duh, i encourage everyone to wear the shirt. "you will not mock my God" is definitly the strongest line there, and that is the part most important to me, so i dont care if you are a christian or not, but i wont stand for people mocking or depreciating my God. thank you and good night.

Hmmmm... this is kind of a toughy. When first hearing this, its sounds obserd that a public school would get upset and ban a shirt saying "prolife.". But when you think about it, if a christian school saw a shirt saying "prochoice",we would do the same thing...because we believe in prolife. And im just saying that to explain that i cant judge for their feelings... but it is a public school and like the article said,"Usually school officials back off," he said. "But it's interesting, it's just conservative, pro-life or Christian kids who get hassled. They always say other kids who wear shirts with a playboy bunny, Marilyn Manson, beer ads or cigarette ads never are pulled aside by a teacher." According to the first amendment, this kid had the right to wear that shirt. He wasnt forcing anyone else to believe that way...he was just wearing his belief. So yeah, i dont know. I guess if the school had rules against any shirts of that kind, i really cant say they are going off the deep end. But if they are singleing out this one boy for his shirt professing life, they are wrong.

Yeah, i agree with jimmy. Its not funny, but on the other hand its kind of funny considering that everything that has to do with christianity or any good morals at all, people totally try get rid of them, or find some fault in it. But on the legal issue, i totally agree with noelle, on the whole 1st ammendent deal, they are just selectively using thoughs powers. I know im alittle late;) sorry.
